Healthy Future Girls: School Wellness Outreach 2026

Project status: Proposed project in development.

Proposed implementation period: November–December 2026.

Proposed location: Selected secondary schools in Abuja, beginning with approximately three to five schools near Jabi, subject to school approval, confirmed funding and implementation capacity.

Project overview

Yeshua & Kids Care Foundation is developing the Healthy Future Girls: School Wellness Outreach 2026 project to support the health, dignity and wellbeing of secondary school girls in Abuja.

The proposed project will combine age-appropriate health education, menstrual hygiene support and basic health screening where qualified health professionals and approved procedures are available. The project is intended to help students access reliable health information, practical hygiene resources and referral support where further assessment may be needed.

The Foundation’s approach is faith-inspired and grounded in compassion, dignity, safeguarding and respect for every child.

Proposed Activities

The project may include:

• Workshops on menstrual health, personal hygiene, self-care, nutrition, physical activity and emotional wellbeing.

• Menstrual pads, soap and other approved hygiene supplies, subject to available funding.

• Basic blood-glucose screening conducted by appropriately qualified health professionals, where approved.

• Information about when and where to seek further medical assessment.

• School and community partnerships supporting the wellbeing of girls.

The health education and screening activities will not replace professional medical diagnosis or treatment. A screening result alone does not confirm diabetes or any other medical condition.

The initial planning target is to reach approximately 500–1,000 students across the proposed outreach activities, subject to the number of participating schools, available funding and confirmed delivery arrangements. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed result.

Safeguarding, consent and privacy

The project will be implemented only after appropriate arrangements have been confirmed.

These may include:

• School authorization.

• Parent or guardian consent where required.

• Child assent where appropriate.

• Qualified health professionals.

• Safe supervision of volunteers.

• Confidential handling of personal information.

• Appropriate referral information.

• Procedures for responding to safeguarding concerns.

Proposed reach

The initial planning target is to reach approximately 500–1,000 students across the proposed outreach activities. The final number will depend on confirmed funding, participating schools, available supplies and professional support.

Estimated project budget

This is a preliminary estimate for one planned outreach activity:

• Glucometers and compatible test strips: Five kits at an estimated cost of $100 per kit — estimated total: $500.

• Menstrual pads and hygiene kits: Approximately 500 kits at an estimated cost of $5 per kit — estimated total: $2,500.

• Workshop materials and refreshments: Estimated total: $350.

• Local transport and volunteer logistics: Estimated total: $150.

Estimated project total: $3,500.

The prices above are estimates and are not fixed. Costs may change because of supplier quotations, exchange rates, inflation, transport costs, product availability, school requirements and changes in the final project scope. The final budget will be confirmed after quotations are obtained and the participating schools and partners are confirmed.

Any change to the budget should be recorded and explained for transparency.
